When you're ready to leave the inshore crowds behind and chase some serious reef fish, Captain Seth and the Nauti-Nurse crew have you covered. This full-day offshore charter puts you on prime Gulf waters where the big amberjack and snapper live. We're talking about heading 20-40+ miles out from Fort Morgan's marina into the deeper blue, where the water color changes and the fish get bigger. Eight hours gives us plenty of time to work multiple spots and put a serious cooler of fish together for your crew of up to six anglers.
Your day kicks off early from Fort Morgan, and trust me, you'll appreciate the air conditioning and onboard head during the long run south. The Nauti-Nurse is set up for comfort on these extended trips because we know what it's like spending a full day in the Gulf sun. Once we clear the nearshore waters, we're looking for structure - artificial reefs, natural ledges, and oil rigs that hold the kind of fish you came for. The crew handles all the rigging and knows exactly where to put you on productive bottom. Whether you're a seasoned angler or this is your first rodeo offshore, they'll get you dialed in on the right technique for whatever's biting that day.
We're primarily bottom fishing these deeper reefs, which means heavy tackle and fresh bait to get down to where the snapper and amberjack are hanging out. The crew provides all your rods, reels, and terminal tackle - we're talking about stout conventional reels spooled with enough line to handle these reef bruisers. Depending on current and depth, we might be fishing anywhere from 60 to 120 feet of water. Fresh bait is key out here, and the boat comes stocked with whatever's working best - usually a mix of cut bait and live offerings when available. During the transit, keep your eyes peeled because we might troll for wahoo if conditions are right and the crew spots good water.
"This was the first time for me and my family to charter a boat and we were not disappointed. Capt. Seth and deckhand Tanner were both very professional and made it a great experience. We have always fished with my little center console boat but I wouldn't venture out too far in it. We booked the 12hr trip and ended up 42+ miles south into the Gulf of America! All 6 of us caught our limit of both red and vermillion snapper along with a few other species. The air conditioning and bathroom were awesome too. Would have been a long day without them. Clean boat and experienced crew! Definitely will do that again." - Drew
"Another banner trip with Captain Seth. We caught our limit of very nice Red Snapper then a surprising variety of other fish Including 3 very nice amber jack. Looking forward to next year already!! A five star experience!!" - Ronald
"The Captain had us on the fish within minutes of getting 20 plus miles out. Caught our limit on some very nice snapper. We were heading to another location when the starboard engine developed issues and we had to shutdown the engine. As a Coast Guard Licensed Captain on many charters I am well aware things happen on a boat. The Captain did the professional choice and kept the boat and everyone on board safe. Great respect. We had an enjoyable "long" ride back to shore. The Captain offered cutting our charter fee from 8 to 6 hours. Before we got off the dock he had notified Fishing Booker and we were reimbursed the cost. You can't put a cost on prudent seamanship. I would "HIGHLY" recommend this Captain and Crew. Thank you Captain for making the right call." - Phil
Red Snapper are the bread and butter of these offshore trips, and for good reason. These ruby-red reef dwellers average 3-8 pounds out here, with some real doormat-sized fish pushing double digits. They're structure-oriented fish that school up on hard bottom, and once you find them, the action can be steady. Red snapper season typically runs from June through July in federal waters, making summer the prime time for this world-class fishery. What makes them so fun to catch is their aggressive bite and the way they fight all the way to the boat - no quit in these fish.
Greater Amberjack are the muscle cars of the reef, and when one grabs your bait, you'll know it immediately. These bruisers commonly run 20-40 pounds in the deeper Gulf waters, with some real giants pushing 50+ pounds during peak season. They're year-round residents but fish best during the cooler months from fall through early spring when they're more active. Amberjack will test your tackle and your back - they make long, powerful runs and use their broad sides to fight you all the way up from the bottom. Landing a big AJ is a badge of honor among offshore anglers.
Lane Snapper might be smaller than their red cousins, but they make up for it with numbers and willingness to bite. These silver and yellow striped fish are perfect for keeping the action going between bigger fish, and they're excellent table fare. You'll find them mixed in with the red snapper schools, and they're often the first fish to find your bait when you drop down to a new spot. Kids and novice anglers love lane snapper because they're aggressive biters and fun to catch on lighter tackle.
Wahoo are the speed demons of the offshore world, and while they're a bonus fish on this bottom-fishing trip, they can show up during the transit out to the fishing grounds. These torpedo-shaped predators can reach speeds of 40+ mph and are known for their blistering runs and impressive jumps. Fall and winter are prime wahoo time in the northern Gulf, and if we

Seth took us on an 8 hour offshore trip where we caught our limit of Red Snapper and also had the opportunity to reel in Triggerfish and Amberjack. Colton the deckhand was phenomenal, and made sure we always had bait on hook and fishing. Great trip, great crew, and will be booking again!

These bruisers are the heavyweight champions of our reef trips, averaging 39 pounds but capable of hitting 6 feet long. Their bluish-grey bodies with that distinctive amber stripe make them easy to identify. We target them around deep structure - wrecks, reefs, and ledges in 60-200 feet of water. Spring through early summer is prime time when they're most active. What makes AJ fishing special is the fight - they'll dive straight for cover and test every ounce of your drag system. The meat is excellent when prepared right, though larger fish can carry ciguatera. Here's the key: use heavy tackle with 50+ pound test and wire leaders. Once hooked, keep steady pressure and don't let them reach structure or you'll lose them every time.

These colorful little fighters are the perfect species for keeping action steady throughout the day. Sporting pink bodies with yellow racing stripes, they typically run 10-14 inches but punch above their weight class. We find them around the same reefs as their bigger red snapper cousins, usually in 70-230 feet over coral and rocky bottom. They're active year-round but peak during their spawning season from March through September. What guests love is their aggressive nature - they'll hit almost anything you drop down and fight hard once hooked. The meat is sweet and firm, making excellent table fare. Lane snappers feed heavily at night, so late afternoon trips often produce the best action. Keep your hooks small and bait fresh - shrimp and squid work great.

These golden beauties are known for their brilliant colors that shift from blue-green to gold when they're excited. Don't worry - despite being called "dolphinfish," they're not related to dolphins at all. Most run 15-29 pounds and put up one hell of a fight with their acrobatic jumps. We find them around floating debris and weed lines in warmer months, typically in waters 100+ feet deep. They're fast growers that love chasing flying fish, so we'll skip baits on the surface to get their attention. The meat is firm and mild - perfect for grilling. Pro tip: once you hook one, keep other lines in the water since mahi often travel in schools and the hooked fish will keep the others around.

The prize of Gulf fishing, reds are what most folks dream about catching on our trips. These beautiful fish start pink and turn deep red as they mature, averaging 1-2 feet but capable of reaching 35+ pounds. We find them on hard bottom structure - reefs, ledges, and wrecks in 60-200 feet. They're year-round residents but bite best during cooler months when regulations allow. What makes snapper fishing addictive is their wariness and strong fight once hooked. The meat is unbeatable - sweet, flaky, and perfect for any preparation. Success comes from fishing tight to structure with fresh bait like squid or cigar minnows. Here's the trick: get your bait to the bottom quickly and be ready - snapper will steal bait before you know they're there.

The speed demons of the Gulf, wahoo can hit 60 mph and will burn drag like nothing else. These sleek, torpedo-shaped fish sport blue backs with zebra stripes and razor-sharp teeth that'll slice through regular leaders instantly. We typically encounter them during transit in open water, especially around oil rigs and temperature breaks. Fall through spring offers the best action when they move closer to shore. Most run 3-5 feet and fight with blistering runs that'll have your reel screaming. The white, flaky meat is some of the best eating in the Gulf - mild and sweet. Essential gear: wire leaders and high-speed trolling setups. We run lures fast at 12-15 knots because wahoo won't chase slow baits. When one hits, hang on tight.
